“We confirm the loss of the aircraft. However, the Ukrainian pilot successfully ejected, established contact with the search-and-rescue team, and was promptly transported to a medical facility for examination and the necessary medical assistance,” the Ukrainian Air Force said.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the circumstances and cause of the incident remain under investigation. Authorities are also working to locate the crash site and recover the aircraft’s wreckage.
The MiG-29 is a Soviet-designed fourth-generation multirole fighter that remains one of the core aircraft operated by Ukraine’s Air Force. Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, the platform has been adapted to employ a wider range of Western-supplied precision-guided munitions alongside its original Soviet-era weapons.
Earlier, on June 16, a Ukrainian Air Force Su-24M frontline bomber crashed during a combat mission in the Khmelnytskyi region, killing both crew members. The causes and circumstances of the accident remain under investigation.
