Ukraine Snaps Russia’s “Arrow,” Hitting Strela-10 Air Defense, Drone Depot and Command Posts

Ukrainian forces struck a Russian air defense system, military storage facilities, and two command posts across temporarily occupied parts of the Donetsk, Luhansk, and Zaporizhzhia regions, Ukraine’s General Staff reported on August 15.

The strikes were carried out throughout August 14 and overnight into August 15 against facilities used by Russian forces for air defense, logistics, drone operations, and battlefield command.

According to the General Staff, Ukrainian forces struck a Russian Strela-10 short-range surface-to-air missile system in temporarily occupied Kreminna, Luhansk region.

The Strela-10 is a Soviet-designed mobile air defense system mounted on a tracked armored vehicle and designed to protect ground forces from low-flying aircraft, helicopters, and other aerial targets at short ranges.

A Russian drone storage facility in temporarily occupied Vuhledar, Donetsk region, was also hit. In temporarily occupied Lysychansk, Luhansk region, Ukrainian forces targeted a depot containing logistical and material supplies used by Russian troops.

Two Russian command posts were among the other targets. The General Staff identified their locations as temporarily occupied Selydove in the Donetsk region and temporarily occupied Mykhailivka in the Zaporizhzhia region.

Ukraine’s General Staff said the extent of the damage and the final results of the strikes were still being assessed.

The strikes came as Ukrainian forces continued operations against Russian military and defense-industrial facilities both in temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories and inside Russia.

On August 15, Ukrainian forces also struck the Progress Rocket Space Centre in Samara and the Savasleyka military airfield in Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod region. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Flamingo missiles were used in the strike on the Progress facility, located roughly 900 kilometers from Ukraine’s border.
