Ukraine Unveils AI-Powered Fiber-Optic Drone System Built for Coordinated Swarm Strikes

Ukrainian defense technology company 3DTech has unveiled a new unmanned aerial system that enables operators to control multiple fiber-optic FPV drones from a single ground station while incorporating AI-assisted target detection and battlefield networking.

The company presented the HYDRA Khyzhak REBOFF Digital system on August 4, describing it as a platform for coordinated multi-drone operations. The system is already available through Ukraine’s DOT-Chain procurement platform and Brave1 Market.
According to 3DTech, the HYDRA ground control station can simultaneously manage up to five drones, transmit live video feeds, and switch between aircraft in real time. The system also supports AI-based target recognition and can stream video directly to Ukraine’s DELTA battlefield management system and the Vezha platform.
The company says its fiber-optic Khyzhak FPV drones have a maximum operational range of up to 30 kilometers. Unlike conventional radio-controlled FPV drones, fiber-optic systems are connected to operators through a physical cable, making them significantly more resistant to electronic warfare and signal jamming.

In announcing the system, 3DTech described the HYDRA Khyzhak REBOFF Digital complex as being intended for coordinated group operations, enabling parallel launches, a high tempo of strikes, and synchronized mass attacks.
The company previously became the first Ukrainian developer to complete Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense codification process for a family of fiber-optic unmanned aerial systems.
The unveiling follows a series of Ukrainian efforts to integrate AI and low-cost technologies into battlefield systems. Earlier this week, Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence introduced the Perimeter surveillance system, allowing troops to monitor frontline positions remotely from shelters using multispectral cameras while reducing exposure to enemy reconnaissance.
