Ukrainian forces struck a Russian training and production complex in the temporarily occupied Donetsk region, killing 65 cadets of the “Sever-Akhmat” 78th Special Purpose Motorized Regiment during an operation “Akhmat’s Snow”, according to Robert Brovdi, commander of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces, on May 20.

Brovdi said the operation was planned by the Deep Strike Center of the Unmanned Systems Forces and carried out jointly by the 1st Center of the Unmanned Systems Forces and Ukraine’s Security Service.

The strike reportedly targeted a facility in the city of Snizhne, on temporarily occupied Ukrainian territory, used by the Russian Academy of Rocket and Artillery Sciences.

“Confirmed eliminated: 65 cadets and the head of the center, Lieutenant Colonel ‘Buryi,’ a doctor of the Russian Academy of Rocket and Artillery Sciences. The number of sanitary losses is being clarified,” Brovdi said.

According to him, the attack took place overnight on May 20 and involved 11 planned strikes using middle-strike weapons with 100-kilogram warheads.

The targets included a training and production complex and a temporary deployment site of the 78th “Sever-Akhmat” Special Purpose Motorized Regiment named after Akhmat Kadyrov, which operates as part of Russia’s 42nd Division.

Brovdi said the main two-story building, covering 2,484 square meters, was hit. The facility reportedly housed drone and drone-warhead assembly areas, as well as a floor used by personnel.

“The stockpile of ammunition in the basement added unforgettable impressions for the Russians present at the facility,” Brovdi added.

He also said Russia had deployed three such training centers of the Academy of Rocket and Artillery Sciences in the temporarily occupied territories.

“There were three such training centers of the Russian Academy of Rocket and Artillery Sciences in the temporarily occupied territories. Two remain. For now,” Brovdi said.

Earlier, Ukrainian military intelligence units, in coordination with Territorial Defense forces, carried out an operation that resulted in the heaviest reported personnel losses for Russia’s Rosgvardia-affiliated “Akhmat” unit since the start of the full-scale invasion.
