Ukraine’s Naval Drones Reach Yalta—and One Appears to Be Carrying FPVs Ashore

Ukrainian naval drones attacked Russian forces in Yalta, temporarily occupied Crimea, according to the OSINT community Exilenova+ on August 7.

A fire broke out along the coastal area following the reported attack, sending a thick column of black smoke into the air.

Crimea’s Russian occupation authorities urged vacationers in Yalta to leave the beaches because of the threat from drones.

Russia’s Emergency Situations Ministry issued a similar warning, specifically citing the threat of an attack by uncrewed surface vessels.

Images posted online showed a naval drone resembling platforms previously used in repeated Ukrainian attacks against Russian forces in the Black Sea and occupied Crimea.

The vessel appears to have been configured as a carrier for FPV drones capable of continuing the attack against targets on shore. A structure visible on top of the hull appears designed to accommodate the UAVs.

Earlier, Ukraine’s military intelligence unveiled a new version of its Magura naval drone capable of carrying and launching FPV drones, extending the platform’s reach from attacks at sea to strikes against Russian military targets on land.
