Ukrainian drone units struck a Russian military training ground and several air defense positions in temporarily occupied parts of the Zaporizhzhia region overnight on June 12–13, according to statements published by Commander of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces, Robert “Madyar” Brovdi on June 13.

According to Brovdi, the operation targeted the Vostochny training ground near the village of Novopetrivka, where Russian forces were reportedly conducting training activities for multiple units deployed on the Huliaipole sector of the front.

The strikes were carried out by several formations within Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces, including the 414th Separate Brigade “Madyar’s Birds,” the 1st SBS Center, the 413th Raid Regiment, and the 412th Nemesis Brigade.

Brovdi said the training area was being used by personnel from Russia’s 40th Naval Infantry Brigade, the 1461st Territorial Troops Regiment of the 36th Combined Arms Army, and the 1466th Motor Rifle Regiment of the 5th Combined Arms Army. All three units are currently operating in the Zaporizhzhia direction, according to Ukrainian military officials.

In addition to the training ground, Ukrainian drone operators reported strikes against several Russian military assets in temporarily occupied territories.

According to Brovdi, targets included a Tor-M2 surface-to-air missile system near the settlement of Vershyna Druha in Zaporizhzhia region, a ZU-23 anti-aircraft gun and a man-portable air defense system (MANPADS) crew near Novopetrivka, a drone command post belonging to a Russian naval infantry unit near Novoandriivka in Donetsk region, and a drone deployment site near Dovzhansk in occupied Luhansk region.

According to Brovdi, Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces recorded 1,645 strikes against Russian targets on June 12 alone. He stated that the targets included personnel, military equipment, command facilities, and air defense systems.

Earlier, Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi reported that Ukrainian unmanned systems struck nearly 180,000 verified Russian targets in May, a 12.7% increase from April. He also said Ukrainian drone operators have neutralized 12,500 more Russian troops than Russia has recruited since the start of 2026, while Ukraine maintains a growing advantage in FPV drone operations.
