A major Russian oil pipeline facility in the Samara region may have been targeted in a November 2 drone attack, with black smoke rising near the Samara oil pumping and dispatch station (LPDS Samara), according to an open-source intelligence (OSINT) analysis published by Russian outlet ASTRA.
The facility, located near the settlement of Prosvet, is a critical component of Russia’s main oil pipeline infrastructure and is associated with one of Europe’s largest oil storage tank farms.

Although Russian authorities have not officially confirmed an attack on the facility, local residents reported hearing explosions and seeing a column of smoke rising from the direction of the station.
Samara regional governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev acknowledged a drone attack overnight but did not specify which locations had been targeted.
“An attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on our territory is being repelled. Air defense systems and mobile fire groups are operating,” Fedorishchev said, according to ASTRA.

ASTRA also published a photograph submitted by its readers showing smoke rising from the direction of the Samara oil pumping and dispatch station. According to the outlet, its OSINT analyst verified the photograph's location, determining that it had been taken from the New Bridge in Samara.
The LPDS Samara is a key facility within Russia’s Transneft pipeline system, serving as a major center for crude oil storage, transportation, and blending.
Spanning more than 216 hectares, the complex houses 71 oil storage tanks with a total capacity of over 1.6 million cubic meters. Russian media have described the facility as Europe’s largest oil storage tank farm.

The site also includes the Samara-1 and Samara-2 pumping stations, along with a dedicated crude oil blending facility.
Four major trunk pipelines connect at the hub, transporting crude oil from Western Siberia, Tatarstan, Russia’s Orenburg region, and Kazakhstan before it is distributed further through the country’s pipeline network.

The reported incident comes amid a series of Ukrainian drone strikes targeting Russia’s oil refining infrastructure. Over three consecutive nights, Ukrainian drones struck three major Russian refineries that collectively account for approximately 10% of the country’s total oil refining capacity.
According to the Ukrainian OSINT monitoring group Dnipro Osint, the attacks targeted the Novokuybyshevsk refinery in the Samara region, the Bashneft-Novoil facility in Ufa, and LUKOIL’s refinery in Kstovo, Nizhny Novgorod region.
