Ukrainian Marines Liberate Novokhatske in Donetsk Region

Ukrainian forces have cleared the village of Novokhatske in the Donetsk region and established full operational control over the settlement following a coordinated assault, ArmyInform reported on July 9.
The operation was conducted through the joint efforts of the 37th Separate Marine Brigade and paratroopers from the 79th Separate Air Assault Tavriia Brigade.

According to a statement released by the 37th Marine Brigade and published by ArmyInform, Ukrainian service members completed the tactical mission step-by-step despite encountering dense defensive mining and persistent resistance from the Russian forces.
The coordinated push successfully dislodged Russian troops from their dug-in positions, forcing them to suffer personnel losses and retreat from the immediate sector. ArmyInform noted that while the settlement is now firmly secured by Ukrainian defenders, video documentation from the ground indicates that the village infrastructure has been heavily damaged as a result of Russian artillery strikes and general hostilities along the frontline.

The 79th Air Assault Brigade previously engaged in high-intensity combat near Pokrovsk, where it reportedly destroyed an entire battalion of the Russian 5th Motor Rifle Brigade “Oplot.” According to the brigade, the engagement carried significant symbolic weight, as the paratroopers had previously faced the same formation more than a decade earlier during the 2014 battles for Donetsk Airport.
