Ukrainian airborne units successfully eliminated a concealed Russian military presence in a building near Myrnohrad, according to a video and operational update released by the 79th Separate Air Assault Brigade on January 17.
According to the brigade’s official Telegram channel, the unit—part of the 7th Rapid Response Corps of the Air Assault Forces—remains active in and around the town of Myrnohrad in Donetsk region, conducting operations against Russian infiltration attempts.

In a recent engagement, Ukrainian troops identified a Russian infantryman hiding within a facility at a local fish farm. Using intercepted radio communications, they confirmed his callsign.
To avoid a direct assault, Ukrainian soldiers approached the building and used Russian language to mislead the target. According to the 79th Brigade, the soldiers told him: “Kedr, we are friendly. We’ve come to assist.” The brigade states that after this exchange, the assault group entered the building without resistance and eliminated the threat.
Russian units continue to position themselves near Myrnohrad in an effort to disrupt Ukrainian logistics and gain a foothold in the town. According to the brigade, Russian forces have recently relied more on covert infiltration tactics, reducing the frequency of large-scale assaults in favor of small-unit maneuvers targeting urban infrastructure.
Earlier, on November 17, Ukrainian forces eliminated a Russian GRU assault team attempting to infiltrate Myrnohrad from the Krasnyi Lyman direction, according to the 7th Rapid Response Corps. The unit was part of a second-echelon force supporting frontline troops.
