He is not the only foreign national facing legal action from Moscow. Several other volunteers from the United States, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Colombia, and the Czech Republic have also been targeted in similar Russian court rulings.

The Independent noted that the ruling could further strain relations between Russian leader Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump, complicating Trump’s efforts to broker a peace deal in Ukraine.

The targeting of foreign volunteers by Russian courts comes as they continue to play an active role in frontline combat. Recently. Colombian foreign volunteers have taken part in joint operations alongside Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR).

Volunteers serving in the International Legion under HUR’s Tactical Group “Revansh” helped clear an infiltrated Russian airborne position near Stepnohirsk in the Zaporizhzhia region, utilizing FPV drones and grenade assaults to eliminate one Russian soldier and capture another.
