Watch Colombian Volunteers Storm Russian Position and Capture Soldier Near Zaporizhzhia

Colombian volunteers serving with Ukraine’s military took part in a clearing operation that eliminated a Russian position and captured one Russian serviceman near the frontline settlement of Stepnohirsk in Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region.

The operation was reported by Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR), which published footage from the mission carried out by its Tactical Group “Revansh” on July 28.

According to HUR, the operation targeted a group of Russian airborne troops that had infiltrated the area between Ukrainian and Russian positions. The intelligence agency said the Russian soldiers were attempting to establish ambushes and adjust artillery fire against Ukrainian forces.

The assault was carried out jointly by Ukrainian personnel and Colombian volunteers serving in the International Legion under HUR’s Tactical Group “Revansh.” The operation began with FPV drone strikes against Russian positions before the assault team advanced to clear the area.

HUR said Ukrainian troops offered the Russian soldiers an opportunity to surrender before entering the position. After receiving no response, the assault team used grenades to clear trenches and dugouts occupied by Russian troops.

According to the agency, one Russian soldier was killed during the engagement, while another was captured. HUR stated that the wounded prisoner received medical treatment before being questioned.

Stepnohirsk, located roughly 15–20 kilometers south of the city of Zaporizhzhia, has become a contested frontline settlement following months of Russian attacks.

Ukrainian military officials consider the area strategically important because Russian forces have repeatedly attempted to infiltrate the settlement and establish positions that could support further advances toward Zaporizhzhia.

Earlier, a Colombian volunteer known by the callsign “Tornado” said he had defended a frontline position in Ukraine’s Sumy region for 110 days while repelling repeated Russian assaults as part of the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade “Magura.”
