Wildberries Logistics Hub and Major Lukoil Refinery Burn After Drone Strikes on Volgograd

Drones struck a major Wildberries logistics center and the Lukoil oil refinery in Russia’s Volgograd region, igniting fires at two facilities central to regional fuel production and commercial distribution on July 31.

Volgograd Governor Andrey Bocharov confirmed that UAV strikes had caused fires at an industrial fuel-and-energy facility in southern Volgograd and at warehouse buildings, though he did not initially identify the companies involved.

Wildberries later confirmed that its Volgograd logistics center had been attacked and caught fire.

“Preliminary reports indicate there were no casualties,” the company said. “Logistics chains have been reconfigured, and incoming supplies and order shipments are being handled by other facilities.”

The 44,000-square-meter complex—approximately 474,000 square feet—is a key distribution hub serving the Volgograd and Astrakhan regions, as well as surrounding areas.

Exilenova also reported explosions and a fire at the Lukoil-Volgogradneftepererabotka refinery.

The plant is the largest petroleum-products producer in Russia’s Southern Federal District and the country’s seventh-largest refinery by capacity. It can process approximately 15.7 million metric tons of crude oil annually.

The facility produces gasoline, diesel, aviation fuel, fuel oil, bitumen, and other petroleum products through deep oil-processing operations.

The overnight attack hit two distinct parts of Russia’s economy at once: a major refinery supporting fuel supplies and a regional warehouse essential to one of the country’s largest online marketplaces.

Earlier, Ukrainian drones launched an attack on a Wildberries logistics facility in Russia’s Perm region on July 30. This incident marked the third strike on the marketplace’s storage facilities in a single day, following earlier hits on warehouse infrastructure in the Penza region and Udmurtia.
