Hungary Open to Joining Ukraine Led Carpathian Eight Alliance After UN Talks

Ukraine and Hungary have resolved their diplomatic misunderstandings surrounding the newly formed Carpathian Eight regional cooperation initiative, Hungarian Foreign Minister Anita Orban announced, as reported by Index on September 25.

Orban stated that Hungary could potentially join the format in the future following further dialogue.

The resolution came after several meetings between Orban and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha during the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

According to Index, Orban noted that while public statements were being made, officials in Kyiv and Budapest maintained continuous direct diplomatic contact to address the issue.

She added that Hungary remains open to joining regional and bilateral cooperation formats if they align with national interests, provided that appropriate negotiations and formal preparations take place first.
