Nordic Partners Deliver €180 Million in Vital Aid for Ukraine Energy Sector

In July, the Ukraine Energy Support Fund received €180 million ($196 million) in grants from four donor countries.

This brought the mechanism's total grant funding to nearly €2.12 billion ($2.31 billion), provided by 39 international sponsors across 26 partner nations and three international organizations, according to the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine on August 10.

Last month, contracts worth approximately €78.4 million ($85.5 million) were signed through the fund to procure critical equipment, while Ukrainian power providers received €29.4 million ($32 million) worth of previously contracted equipment.

In July, grant contributions were received by the Energy Support Fund of Ukraine from Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Iceland. The total amount of receipts reached 180 million euros," Ministry of Energy of Ukraine stated.

The signed procurement agreements focus on power transformers, high-voltage equipment, control and relay protection systems, backup power generators, cable products, specialized vehicles, as well as materials and parts required to rebuild, modernize, and urgently repair energy infrastructure.

During 2025, the fund allocated financial resources for 250 out of 398 requests approved by the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine. The remaining applications were either withdrawn or could not be funded due to limited available funds or specific targeting conditions established by the donors.

During the high-level "Energy Ramstein" meeting at the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Gdańsk, Poland, the United States and European allies pledged at least €375 million ($423.75 million) in fresh funding to reinforce Ukraine’s Energy Support Fund and rebuild its power infrastructure.

According to First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal, these resources were designated to immediately procure critical grid equipment, fund rapid repair teams, and erect physical defenses around vulnerable electricity hubs.
