Starlink Station Fire in Poland Pointing Directly to Russian Intelligence Orders

Polish authorities are investigating an intentional arson attack at a Starlink satellite ground station as a terrorist offense and act of sabotage carried out under orders from Russian intelligence, according to PAP.

The incident occurred on September 23 in Wola Krobowska, located within the Grójec County of Mazovian Voivodeship, resulting in significant financial and material damage to the telecommunications installation.

Surveillance footage and site evidence gathered by law enforcement confirm that the facility was set on fire intentionally.

According to National Prosecution Office spokesperson Przemysław Nowak, “There is a reasonable suspicion that the perpetrators acted on the orders of Russian special services. Their goal was to disrupt the internet connection of the Starlink system in Poland and other countries of Central and Eastern Europe,” as reported by PAP.

Prosecutors alongside the Internal Security Agency (ABW) and the Central Investigation Bureau of Police (CBSP) inspected the scene and interviewed witnesses following the launch of the formal investigation on September 25, 2026.

The case has been assigned to regional divisions of the ABW and CBSP in Radom, with Deputy Minister of Interior and Administration Czesław Mroczek confirming that investigators are working to establish all circumstances surrounding the sabotage, though no formal charges have been issued yet.

Concerns over the Starlink station fire come amid heightened scrutiny of sabotage and other hybrid threats across Europe. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen proposed a NATO-style mechanism on September 16 to help EU countries coordinate their response to sabotage, drone incursions, and other forms of non-military aggression.

Under the proposed "counter-hybrid playbook," any EU member state subject to non-military aggression could request emergency talks with fellow members. This would enable the bloc to organize a joint response, strengthen deterrence, and reduce potential damage.
