Sweden Seeks to Seize Russian Oligarch's Mansion Right Next to Strategic Naval Base

The Swedish Armed Forces have formally asked the government to seize a 600-square-meter property owned by the family of Russian businessman Stanislav Aleshchenko near the Musko naval base on the Stockholm Archipelago.

According to Swedish public broadcaster SVT on August 25, military authorities cite national security concerns for the request, as the site represents the only plot of land adjacent to the strategic base that is not currently under military control.

While Swedish media reports link Aleshchenko directly to its construction, the real estate is officially registered under his wife's name.

Swedish defense officials stated that Aleshchenko holds Russian citizenship and poses a threat to military security due to his connections with Putin's regime.

The military plans to utilize the land to deploy anti-drone defense systems, pointing to Russian drones as a key threat to Sweden. The elevated position of the property offers a clear view of the bay, making it an ideal location for mounting defensive equipment.
