Trump wrote that he had just completed an “extremely successful discussion” with Putin regarding the shipments. He added that, taking into account the condition of its diesel refineries, Russia will subsequently supply 3 million tons of diesel fuel in the shortest possible timeframe.
“Additionally, taking into account the condition of its diesel refineries, Russia will then, in the shortest time possible, supply 3 million tons of diesel fuel. Thanks to our full control over the Strait of Hormuz and this wonderful news regarding Russian energy resources, diesel prices for Americans and, indeed, around the world, will drop to record lows, and this will happen quickly,” Trump wrote.

Previously, US President Donald Trump urged Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a September 20 phone call to stop targeting Russian oil refineries due to rising diesel prices and global shortages.
Although Ukrainian drone strikes impacted the market, restricted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz remained the main cause of the diesel crisis. During the exchange, Trump repeatedly emphasized the need to lower fuel costs and allow Russian energy supplies to reach international markets.
