Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi has urged Norway to serve one of the key contributors for a new war risk insurance mechanism while appealing to Norwegian companies to expand investment projects across the country.

Following a meeting with Norwegian Finance Minister Jens Stoltenberg to evaluate financial expenditures for 2027, Koretskyi outlined that existing commitments from international partners will leave an unfunded deficit of €70B ($78.3B) next year.

This figure includes €30B ($33.6B) required for direct state budget support and €40B ($44.8B) designated for the Armed Forces of Ukraine amid Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

"Only through the joint efforts of all our partners can we solve this extremely difficult task," Koretskyi emphasized.

During the discussion, details regarding Norway's planned assistance were addressed, including an estimated allocation of nearly €9B ($10.1B) in aid to Ukraine in 2027 provided through the Nansen Support Programme.

Norway had recently pledged nearly $12 million to help trace and return deported Ukrainian children, unlawfully detained civilians, and prisoners of war.

The funding was directed through UNICEF and the International Committee of the Red Cross to support tracing, rehabilitation, and reintegration efforts.
