Zelenskyy Says Egypt, India and Türkiye Proposed Black Sea Ceasefire to Lift Blockade

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated on September 25 that Egypt, India, Türkiye, and representatives from the Middle East had separately proposed ways to lift Russia's blockade of the Black Sea.
He made the remarks during a press briefing in response to a journalist's question about the status of the proposals.

Zelenskyy explained that he held separate conversations with the leaders of Egypt, India, and Türkiye, while Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs conducted parallel talks with their counterparts.
He noted that the initiative reflects a mutual interest, since Ukraine has also sought a way to lift the blockade. According to Zelenskyy, the countries proposed a reciprocal ceasefire in the Black Sea that would let goods, agricultural products above all, reach their destinations without disruption.
He added that some countries went further, submitting their own proposed formats in writing, which Ukraine reviewed and described as entirely fair.
The push adds to Kyiv's broader effort to secure Black Sea shipping lanes disrupted by Russia's ongoing invasion, a campaign that has drawn in multiple international partners over recent months.

Zelenskyy indicated that the countries involved were expected to contact the Russian side following their talks with Ukraine, either afterward or in parallel.
He was careful to note that Kyiv has not confirmed whether that outreach has actually taken place.
"We have not received a response yet," he told journalists.
The proposals follow a broader US-led diplomatic push unveiled just a day earlier.
The Trump administration put forward a three-step plan to de-escalate the war, combining an immediate ceasefire on energy infrastructure, the reopening of the Black Sea grain corridor, and a trilateral meeting between the US, Ukraine, and Russia potentially held in Abu Dhabi.
Zelenskyy discussed the framework in an interview, noting that Kyiv was prepared to halt strikes on energy infrastructure if Russia did the same.
He also floated the upcoming G20 summit in Miami as a possible venue for leader-level talks.
