President Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes US President Donald Trump has enough leverage to bring Russian leader Vladimir Putin to the negotiating table, but says Washington would need to apply the same kind of pressure and rhetoric toward Moscow that it has used with Kyiv.

Speaking on The Diary of a CEO podcast hosted by entrepreneur and investor Steven Bartlett, Zelenskyy was asked whether he sees a realistic path toward ending Russia’s war against Ukraine.

“Trump can bring Putin to the negotiating table very easily. Because the way he speaks about me, he should speak about Putin as well and use the same rhetoric,” Zelenskyy said.

The Ukrainian leader pointed specifically to sanctions already approved by Congress, arguing that Trump has powerful economic tools available if he chooses to use them against Russia.

“He can do it,” Zelenskyy stated.

Zelenskyy suggested that Trump’s reluctance to impose the measures may stem from what he described as the US president’s particular relationship with Putin.

Earlier, twenty-three members of the US House of Representatives, including 16 Democrats and seven Republicans, urged President Donald Trump to help Ukraine gain access to Starlink inside Russia to locate and target Russian missile launchers.
