Crimean Tatar Jazz Musician Usein Bekirov Joins Recording Academy Behind the Grammy Awards

Ukrainian Crimean Tatar jazz musician, composer, and producer Usein Bekirov has become a member of the Recording Academy, the organization that presents the annual Grammy Awards.

Bekirov announced the news in a Facebook post on July 10.
“Today I want to share important news with you. I have become a member of the Recording Academy—the organization that brings together music industry professionals and determines the recipients of the Grammy Awards. For me, this is a great honor and another incentive to create music, continue developing, and proudly represent Ukraine on the international stage,” Bekirov wrote.

He also thanked those who have supported his artistic journey and said he is preparing to release new music.
Bekirov is a Ukrainian Crimean Tatar jazz pianist, composer, arranger, and sound producer. He has been nominated for a Grammy Award three times, received the title of Honored Artist of Ukraine in 2021, and is a member of the National Union of Composers of Ukraine.

He joins a growing number of Ukrainian artists who have become members of the Recording Academy. Previously Ukrainian singer and songwriter Jerry Heil, who represented Ukraine at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, also became a member, gaining the right to vote in the Grammy Awards and submit her own work for consideration.
The Recording Academy is one of the music industry's leading professional organizations, bringing together artists, producers, composers, engineers, and other music professionals who participate in the Grammy Awards voting process.
