Ukrainian ROBONEERS Packs Two AK-74s Into One Starlink-Controlled Combat Turret

Ukrainian defense company ROBONEERS has completed the official codification of its Sabre K-2 remotely operated combat module, clearing the twin-rifle turret for deliveries to Ukraine’s Defense Forces, according to the company’s press release, shared with UNITED24 Media on July 27.

The system was also displayed at the Tech Force in UA Demo Day, “Designed for the Future: Ukrainian Defense Technologies in Action,” attended by a UNITED24 Media correspondent on July 15.

Sabre K-2 mounts two AK-74 assault rifles in a single paired weapon station, doubling its volume of fire and providing close-range support for infantry units.

Depending on the tactical situation, the operator can fire the left or right rifle, or both simultaneously.

The turret is fitted with three cameras for day-and-night operation: a wide-angle daylight camera for surveillance, a narrow-angle camera for aimed fire, and a thermal-imaging camera for nighttime missions and limited-visibility conditions.

Sabre K-2 can be controlled through either a cable connection or a Starlink satellite communications channel. Designed as a network-independent and autonomous module, it can be integrated onto various unmanned ground vehicles and other mobile platforms.

Its power system includes a built-in backup source and can also draw power from a UGV or an external battery operating at 20-60 volts. That flexibility allows the turret to be installed on several types of ground platforms without requiring a dedicated power configuration.

Sabre K-2 expands ROBONEERS’ family of remote weapon stations, which have been used by different branches of Ukraine’s military since 2023.

Official codification opens the way for serial deliveries and wider deployment of the system across platforms operated by Ukraine’s Defense Forces.

Previously, ROBONEERS unveiled BULLDOG, a modular unmanned aerial vehicle that can rapidly switch between serving as a communications relay and carrying out precision strike missions.
