3D-Printed and Deadly: Ukraine Unveils New Guided Bomb Inspired by Bayraktar Arsenal

A new Ukrainian precision-guided munition, reportedly produced with 3D-printing technology, was recently displayed during an exhibition of advanced defense systems attended by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.

The weapon appears to be a compact aerial bomb intended for use on unmanned aerial vehicles.

According to Defense Express on August 25, the munition closely resembles the Turkish MAM-L bomb developed by Roketsan for the Bayraktar TB2 drone.

Both feature similar stabilizers and control surfaces, as well as a mounting mechanism positioned on the upper fuselage for integration with aircraft pylons or UAV hardpoints.

The Ukrainian system appears to include a protruding rear module not present on the MAM-L. While details of its guidance technology remain unclear, the nose section may house a semi-active laser seeker comparable to that used by the Turkish model.

Observers also noted that the weapon’s body and stabilizers display visible 3D-printing textures, suggesting an alternative approach to manufacturing compared to the MAM-L’s metal construction.

With an estimated weight of around 22 kilograms, the munition could potentially be deployed by Bayraktar TB2 drones, which have recently reappeared in Ukrainian operations, or by heavy multirotor platforms adapted for strike missions. However, its exact specifications and operational role have not yet been officially confirmed.

The development adds to a growing portfolio of Ukrainian defense innovations, showcased alongside other advanced systems such as the extended-range “Long Neptune” cruise missile, officially presented during Independence Day events.

Earlier, Ukraine’s defense industry unveiled a domestically built glide bomb kit—nicknamed the Ukrainian “KAB”—designed to convert standard aerial bombs into long-range guided munitions, mirroring Russia’s UMPK. According to Defense Express on June 25, the system is already undergoing test drops and has reached strike ranges of up to 60 kilometers, with a goal of extending this to 80.
