Argentine President Javier Milei has expressed his readiness to visit Ukraine as a gesture of solidarity with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The statement was made during an interview with CNN, where Milei responded affirmatively to a question regarding a potential trip to Kyiv.

“I would be happy to visit Ukraine to support President Zelenskyy,” Milei told CNN.

According to CNN, Milei also emphasized the strength of his personal relationship with the Ukrainian president, stating, “I admire Zelenskyy and feel a special attachment to him.”

The two presidents have maintained consistent communication since Milei took office in December 2023. Zelenskyy attended Milei’s inauguration in Buenos Aires and previously extended a formal invitation for the Argentine leader to visit Ukraine, following Milei’s victory in the 2025 legislative elections.

Since assuming office, Milei has positioned Argentina as a vocal supporter of Ukraine’s sovereignty. He has publicly condemned Russia’s actions and reaffirmed Argentina’s commitment to Ukraine’s territorial integrity on multiple occasions.

Milei, a former economist and libertarian commentator, inherited a country facing significant economic turmoil, with inflation reaching 211% in December 2023 and over 40% of the population living in poverty.

However, by the third quarter of 2024, Argentina had exited recession, and inflation has since dropped to approximately 36%. The country also returned to a budget surplus under Milei’s leadership.

President Zelenskyy has previously noted Ukraine’s interest in studying Argentina’s approach to economic deregulation and anti-inflation measures.
