McDonald’s Ukraine Faces Menu Shortages as Drone Swarms Disrupt Supplies

Some menu items at McDonald’s restaurants in Ukraine may be temporarily unavailable due to supply delays caused by frequent and prolonged air raid alerts, the company’s Ukrainian press service said on September 10.

The company stated that disruptions to its supply chain have affected the availability of certain products at individual restaurants.

The disruptions are compounded by McDonald’s strict safety policy requiring restaurants to close during air raid alerts. With alerts occurring frequently in some parts of Ukraine, individual locations can be forced to suspend operations several times a day or reopen only for short periods between alerts, affecting both restaurant operations and logistics.

McDonald’s added that it is working with its logistics partner to maintain stable deliveries of products to restaurants across Ukraine.

The statement comes amid reports that beef burgers have disappeared from menus at some McDonald’s locations in Odesa. According to Tribuna, citing local Telegram channels, employees attributed the shortage of beef products to supply disruptions linked to the consequences of Russian attacks.

Residents of Odesa have also shared similar reports on Threads, posting images from McDonald’s self-service kiosks showing several beef-based menu items marked as sold out.

McDonald’s did not specify which menu items or restaurants have been affected, noting that availability may vary by location.

Customers can check the current menu at individual restaurants through the McDonald’s app, self-service kiosks, or delivery partner platforms. Information about restaurant locations and available menu items is also provided on the company’s official website.

The supply disruptions come as McDonald’s operations in Ukraine continue to be affected by Russia’s attacks. On January 18, a Russian missile strike on Kyiv’s Lukianivka district significantly damaged Ukraine’s first McDonald’s restaurant, located near the Lukianivska metro station. Three people were also killed in the attack.
