President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated in an interview with BBC that around 20,000 of Russia’s military personnel were killed in action during its spring offensive in Kharkiv.

Zelenskyy pointed out the failure of Russia’s offensive in the Kharkiv region, which started on May 10, 2024, with their deepest incursion reaching 10 kilometers from the border.

"Russia attempted to make a breakthrough towards Kharkiv, with the goal of occupying the city, which is a home to 1.5 million people. But we stopped this offensive; their offensive failed, and that is a fact,” said Zelenskyy.

According to a report from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russia's military losses in its full-scale offensive against Ukraine since February 24 reached 554,510 military personnel, as of July 10, 2024.
