Azov’s FPV Shotgun Drones Blast Six Russian Molniya UAVs Out of the Sky in Donetsk

FPV drones fitted with shotgun-style munitions reportedly shot down six Russian Molniya loitering munitions in the Donetsk region, according to a video post shared by the defense-focused account drone_wars on Instagram.
A recently published video shows Ukrainian FPV drones equipped with shotgun munitions reportedly shooting down six Russian Molniya suicide drones in the Donetsk region. The footage captures combat operations conducted by attack drones from the unmanned aerial vehicle battalion of the 1st Azov National Guard Corps.

Azov-linked air-defense FPV units have been showcased since at least 2024 targeting Russian reconnaissance and attack UAVs—including Orlan, Zala, Supercam, and a rare Molniya-1—at varying altitudes, according to an earlier report by state news agency Ukrinform.
“Azov air defense forces hone their skills every day to shoot down challenging targets and protect artillery and rear areas,” the military said at the time.
The latest claim of six Molniya drones downed in Donetsk has not have been independently verified, but it aligns with a documented pattern of Ukrainian units employing shotgun-style FPV interceptors against Russian fixed-wing and quadcopter platforms on this axis.
Earlier, it was reported that a Ukrainian developer unveiled the jet-powered reusable Mongoose interceptor with a heat-seeking guidance system and a multi-barrel shotgun to disable Shahed-type drones.
