BAFTA Awarded to British Short Film “Rock, Paper, Scissors” on Russia’s War in Ukraine

The short film “Rock, Paper, Scissors,” directed by Franz Böhm and depicting the war in Ukraine, won the BAFTA award for Best British Short Film on February 16.
While accepting the award alongside the film’s team, Oleksandr Rudynskyi, who played the lead role, dedicated the victory to a friend who was killed in the war against Russia.
“I’m gonna dedicate this award to my friend, Zhenia Svitlychnyi, who died in the war 5 days before we started shooting and all those who defend and make my country independent. Thank you so much, BAFTA. And Slava Ukraini!” Rudynskyi said.

Based on true events, the film tells the story of a father and son running an improvised frontline hospital. When a platoon of soldiers arrives at their door, they must make a devastating choice to safeguard their patients and themselves.
In an article released on January 16, the 1968 Ukrainian film “Evening on the Eve of Ivan Kupala,” directed by Yuriy Illienko was mentioned among the films that influenced Robert Eggers' horror film “Nosferatu.”
