Polish authorities have charged a Belarusian national accused of offering to cooperate with the Belarusian KGB  and take part in sabotage operations across the European Union, according to Polish broadcaster RMF FM on August 8.

Prosecutors say the indictment against Artem K. has been filed with the District Court in Białystok. According to investigators, in December 2024, while in Warsaw, he expressed readiness to work for Belarusian intelligence against Poland.

The suspect allegedly sought to participate in sabotage activities in Poland and other EU member states, as well as conduct espionage. He reportedly offered to share information with the Belarusian KGB on the location of critical infrastructure and Belarusian nationals residing in Poland.

The Internal Security Agency detained him in December 2024. While he provided testimony, he denied any wrongdoing.

Artem K. has been charged with attempting to declare readiness to act for a foreign intelligence service against the Republic of Poland and remains in custody.

Earlier, Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) foiled a Belarusian intelligence operation intended to collect sensitive military information along Ukraine’s northern border.

According to SBU, a 24-year-old resident of the Volyn region was recruited by the Belarusian KGB through anonymous Telegram channels. Unemployed and seeking quick cash, he agreed to gather intelligence on Ukrainian Armed Forces positions near the border.
