Belgium will deliver a modernized Leopard 1 tank to Ukraine, equipped with advanced combat capabilities developed through international cooperation, as part of its latest military assistance package.

According to Future Army on May 18, this Leopard 1 will undergo operational testing in Ukraine. Should the trial prove successful, the Armed Forces of Ukraine may consider a broader modernization of additional Leopard 1 tanks using the same configuration.

The upgraded platform features a Cockerill 3105 turret and is armed with the Ukrainian-designed Falarick anti-tank guided missile, produced by the Luch Design Bureau.

The main gun is compatible with standard NATO ammunition and is also capable of launching the laser-guided Falarick missile. The missile can engage targets at distances of up to 5 km in 17 seconds and is equipped with a tandem warhead capab.

The Cockerill 3105 turret is equipped with a high-pressure 105 mm gun, modern optical targeting systems, and an autoloader with a 12–16 round capacity. Notably, the design positions both the gunner and commander within the tank hull rather than the turret, enhancing crew protection and survivability.

Earlier, Ukraine’s Drone Forces have officially unveiled the Tryzub laser weapon system, showcasing its capabilities for the first time at a defense industry event.

As reported by Militarnyi, the system was presented in a video demonstration by Lieutenant General Vadym Sukharevskyi, Commander of the Drone Forces, during the “European Defense Industry: Prospects for Cooperation with the Ukrainian Defense Sector” conference.
