On September 11, 2024, during a visit to Kyiv, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced over $700 million in humanitarian and energy assistance for Ukraine.

According to Blinken’s remarks at a press conference with Ukrainian and British Foreign Ministers, the funding includes $325 million specifically for the restoration of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, which has been targeted by ongoing Russian attacks. Blinken noted that a meeting of the “Group of Seven Plus” will soon address further support for Ukraine’s energy sector.

Additionally, Blinken declared $290 million in humanitarian aid to provide essential services such as safe drinking water, food, and medical care to millions of people in Ukraine and those displaced from their homes.

Furthermore, Blinken revealed an allocation of $102 million for humanitarian demining efforts, aimed at clearing landmines and unexploded ordnance left by Russian forces across Ukraine.

British Foreign Secretary David Lammy, who accompanied Blinken to Kyiv, also announced a commitment of at least £242 million in support, alongside $484 million in financial aid and military equipment for Ukraine.
