A British Armed Forces service member has been killed in Ukraine during the testing of an unspecified weapon system, according to a statement from the UK Ministry of Defence on X.

“It is with deep regret that we must announce that a member of the UK Armed Forces died in Ukraine this morning, Tuesday 9 December,” the ministry said.

According to the MoD, the service member sustained fatal injuries in a tragic accident that occurred while observing Ukrainian troops test a new defensive system far from the front line.
