The first state Ukrainian-Hungarian bilingual high school and gymnasium was opened in Budapest, Hungary.

From September 1, Ukrainian children living in Hungary will go to school, where they will be taught Ukrainian from the 1st to the 12th grade. Hungarian will be taught as a foreign language.

The financing of the educational institution is carried out using the state budget of Hungary.

To ensure the educational process, a separate building has already been prepared that meets all the requirements according to the current legislation of the country.

“This event was preceded by the long work of a specially formed bilateral working group led by Andrii Yermak and Péter Szijjártó, as well as personal communication between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orbán,” wrote Viktor Mykyta, the Head of the Zakarpattia Region State Administration.

Talks about opening the school started in July when Ukraine and Hungary pledged to open and fund the first Ukrainian school in Hungary.
