Canada Considers Co-Producing Military Equipment With Ukraine, Defense Minister Says

Canada is exploring ways to launch joint production of military equipment and gear with Ukraine.
According to an Ukrinform correspondent on June 27, during a visit to Latvia, Canadian Defense Minister Bill Blair confirmed that both the Department of National Defense and the Canadian Armed Forces are assessing the potential for collaboration with Ukrainian partners.
“Ukrainians have made impressive progress in drone technology — something we’re paying close attention to,” Blair said in comments to the media.

One option under consideration is the “Danish model,” where Canadian-funded military equipment would be manufactured directly in Ukraine. Another possibility includes setting up joint ventures on the territory of both countries.
“This cooperation could bring real value to Canadian industry as well, which is why we’re carefully studying the best path forward,” Blair added.
Earlier, ahead of the NATO summit in The Hague, Secretary-General Mark Rutte announced that allied commitments to Ukraine’s defense have already topped $40.2 billion for the period through mid-2025—surpassing the $57.4 billion pledged for all of 2024.
