Czech President Petr Pavel visited Odesa on March 20, the same day Russia launched a massive drone attack on the city and surrounding region, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction Oleksiy Kuleba confirmed on March 20.

During his visit, Pavel met with Kuleba, Odesa regional leaders, and representatives from other Ukrainian cities to discuss key issues, including maritime security, Ukraine’s reconstruction, and community development.

The Office of the Czech President reported that Pavel arrived in Kyiv the following morning, March 21, for meetings with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

During the Odesa meeting, Pavel reaffirmed the Czech Republic’s commitment to aiding Ukraine, particularly in frontline regions.

According to his office, Czech military aid has included armored vehicles, drones, protective vests, mobile jamming equipment, and medical supplies such as ventilators and hospital beds.

Earlier, reports emerged that Czechia was considering a significant increase in its military personnel in response to evolving global security challenges.

Chief of the General Staff of the Czech Armed Forces, Karel Rehka, emphasized the need for an additional 7,500 troops in the coming years, with long-term plans to further expand the force structure.
