Czechia Delivers 400,000 New Shells to Ukraine, Reinforces Long-Term Military Support

Ukraine has received nearly 2 million artillery shells from the Czech Republic as part of a major defense initiative, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced during a joint briefing with Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala on May 20, according to a Ukrinform correspondent.
According to Shmyhal, the Czech-led ammunition supply effort remains a cornerstone of military support for Ukraine.
“Last year alone, we received around 1.5 million shells of various calibers. This year, our Czech partners have provided another 400,000. This is extraordinary work that strengthens Ukraine,” he stated.
Shmyhal also praised Prague’s long-term commitment to Ukraine’s recovery. The Czech government has extended its Ukraine reconstruction program through 2030 and increased its annual aid to over $43 million.

“The Czech government’s Ukraine recovery program has been extended through 2030, and the annual aid amount has been increased to over $43 million. This reflects a long-term, resilient partnership between our countries. We truly value and appreciate it,” Prime Minister noted.
The Prime Minister emphasized that since 2022, the Czech Republic has provided Ukraine with over $900 million in military aid.
Earlier, Ukraine and Czechia had signed an agreement to launch a “Unity Hub” for Ukrainians living in Czechia, the second center of its kind in Europe. The initiative aims to strengthen ties between Ukrainians abroad and their homeland, while also supporting efforts to encourage their future return. Additional hubs are planned in other countries as part of a broader strategy.
