Daily Update: Russia Loses 740 Troops, Four Tanks and 17 Artillery Systems in One Day

Russia’s military lost 740 troops, four tanks, and 17 artillery systems over the past day, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on March 15.

Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022, total Russian combat losses are estimated at approximately:

  • personnel—about 1,279,170 (+740);

  • tanks—11,781 (+4);

  • armored combat vehicles—24,213 (+1);

  • artillery systems—38,438 (+17);

  • multiple launch rocket systems—1,686 (0);

  • air defense systems—1,332 (0);

  • aircraft—435 (0);

  • helicopters—349 (0);

  • operational-tactical drones—179,270 (+1,984);

  • cruise missiles—4,468 (+65);

  • warships/boats—32 (+1);

  • submarines—2 (0);

  • vehicles and fuel tankers—83,513 (+110);

  • special equipment—4,089 (+1).

Ukrainian military officials also reported 144 combat engagements along the frontline over the past 24 hours.

The heaviest fighting was recorded in the Kostiantynivka direction, where Russian forces launched 28 assaults, according to the General Staff. Ukrainian defenders also repelled 20 attacks in the Pokrovsk direction and 18 attacks in the Huliaipole direction.

Additional clashes were reported across multiple sectors, including the Kupiansk, Lyman, Sloviansk, and Kramatorsk directions.

Ukrainian aviation, missile forces and artillery struck several Russian targets in response. According to the General Staff, Ukrainian forces hit concentrations of Russian troops and equipment, as well as artillery systems and other military infrastructure over the past day.

Earlier, Ukrainian military intelligence reported striking two Russian vessels used for military logistics across the Kerch Strait. According to Ukraine’s HUR, the railway ferry “Slavyanin” was disabled and the vessel “Avangard” damaged during the overnight operation on March 14.
