According to Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) on March 14, special forces from its Department of Active Operations targeted the railway ferry “Slavyanin” and the vessel “Avangard.”
The operation left the “Slavyanin” railway ferry disabled, while the “Avangard” vessel sustained damage, according to the intelligence agency. Both ships were part of the so-called Kerch ferry crossing and were used by Russia to transport weapons, military equipment, and ammunition supporting its war against Ukraine.

“On the night of March 13–14, 2026, specialists of the Department of Active Operations of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine carried out successful strikes on two military vessels of the aggressor state Russia,” the intelligence agency said in a statement.
“As a result of the operation, the enemy railway ferry ‘Slavyanin’ was disabled and the vessel ‘Avangard’ was damaged, which the enemy used to wage the criminal war against Ukraine.”
The agency said the vessels were “main elements” of the Kerch ferry crossing and played “one of the key roles” in Russia’s maritime logistics network moving military cargo through the Kerch Strait.

According to HUR, Ukrainian intelligence units working together with other elements of the Defense Forces also struck infrastructure at Port Kavkaz in Russia’s Krasnodar region during the same operation.
The Kerch ferry route is used by Russia as an additional transport corridor between mainland Russia and occupied Crimea, supporting the delivery of equipment and supplies for military operations.
Earlier, operators from the “Prymary” unit of Ukraine’s military intelligence carried out a series of drone strikes targeting Russian radar systems across temporarily occupied Crimea.
According to Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR), the operation hit several elements of Russia’s air defense network, including the Podlet, Kasta-2E2, Sopka-2, and P-18 Terek radar systems, as well as an RSP-6M2 air traffic control station and other supporting infrastructure used by Russian forces on the peninsula.
