Operators from the “Prymary” unit of Ukraine’s military intelligence (HUR) carried out a series of drone strikes against Russian radar systems in temporarily occupied Crimea, Ukraine’s Main Directorate of Intelligence said on March 12.

The agency released video footage recorded by the drones used in the operation, showing strikes against several elements of Russia’s air defense network on the peninsula.

The attacks were conducted throughout February, targeting radar systems used by Russian forces to monitor airspace and detect incoming threats.

Among the systems hit was the 48Ya6-K1 Podlet radar, which Russia uses to detect low-altitude aerial targets such as cruise missiles and drones.

Another target was the Kasta-2E2 radar, a decimeter-band surveillance radar designed to monitor airspace and identify aircraft, including those flying at extremely low altitudes.

Ukrainian drones also struck the Sopka-2 radar, a system used to detect aircraft and determine their range and altitude.

Some of these strikes had previously been reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, though earlier announcements did not identify the unit responsible or release video confirmation of the attacks.

According to the intelligence agency, HUR drone operators also hit a P-18 Terek radar and an RSP-6M2 air traffic control system used by Russian forces in Crimea.

Additional targets included a ground relay station used by Russian Geran-2 attack drones and a ground-based electronic warfare system.

“While the occupiers tried to terrorize Ukrainian skies, military intelligence step by step turned their expensive radars into piles of burned scrap metal,” the intelligence agency said.

Earlier, the Unmanned Systems Forces of Ukraine reported the destruction of a sophisticated Russian radar system in occupied Crimea.

Pilots from the “Kairos” 9th Battalion of the 414th Unmanned Systems Brigade, known as “Madyar’s Birds,” targeted the 64N6 radar, which carries the nickname “Tombstone.”
