Daily Update: Russia Loses 770 Troops, 32 Artillery Systems in One Day

Russia lost an estimated 770 personnel over the past day, along with 32 artillery systems and one tank, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in its morning update on February 28.

In its latest tally covering the period from February 24, 2022, to February 28, 2026, the General Staff said Russia’s cumulative losses have reached approximately 1,265,900 troops.
Ukraine’s updated estimates also list:

On the battlefield, the General Staff reported 148 combat clashes over the past day.
The highest number of Russian assaults was recorded in the Huliaipole direction, where Ukrainian forces repelled 37 attacks.

On the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian defenders stopped 24 assault attempts near multiple settlements. In the Kostiantynivka direction, Russian forces carried out 15 attacks.
Seven attempts to advance were halted in the Sloviansk direction, while four clashes were recorded in the Lyman direction. Three attacks were reported in the Kramatorsk and Oleksandrivka directions, and one in the Kupiansk direction.
In the Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, Russian forces carried out 139 shelling incidents, including 17 involving MLRS, and conducted five airstrikes using 16 guided aerial bombs.
Earlier, Ukraine reported destroying relay stations used to coordinate Russian Shahed drone attacks from Belarus. According to Mykhailo Fedorov and Serhiy “Flash” Beskrestnov, the eliminated Mesh network nodes allowed drones to relay signals and stay connected to Russian operators, including during operations over Kyiv and central Ukraine.
