Daily Update: Russia Loses 830 Troops, Su-34 Fighter Jet, and Two Air Defenses in One Day

Russian forces suffered heavy losses over the past 24 hours, including more than 800 troops, multiple air defense systems, and an aircraft, according to Ukraine’s military.
In its morning update on January 29, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that Russian casualties for the day amounted to 830 personnel, alongside the loss of four tanks and a wide range of other equipment.

Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022, Ukraine estimates that total Russian losses have reached approximately 1,237,400 troops.
According to the General Staff’s cumulative figures as of January 29, Russian forces have lost:
personnel: ~1,237,400 (+830);
tanks: 11,613 (+4);
armored combat vehicles: 23,965 (+7);
artillery systems: 36,733 (+20);
multiple launch rocket systems: 1,629 (no change);
air defense systems: 1,288 (+2);
aircraft: 435 (+1);
helicopters: 347 (no change);
operational-tactical UAVs: 118,679 (+995);
cruise missiles: 4,205 (no change);
warships / boats: 28 (no change);
submarines: 2 (no change);
vehicles and fuel trucks: 76,190 (+88);

The fiercest fighting over the past day was recorded on the Pokrovsk axis, where Ukrainian forces repelled 22 attacks, as well as in the Northern Slobozhansky and Kursk directions, which saw 15 engagements, the General Staff said.
Ukrainian troops continue to hold defensive lines under sustained pressure, inflicting significant losses on Russian units attempting to advance.
In its operational update released at 8:00 am on January 29, the General Staff said Russian forces carried out one missile strike, launching a single missile, as well as 77 airstrikes, dropping 223 guided aerial bombs.
Russia also deployed 6,757 suicide drones and conducted 3,840 artillery attacks on Ukrainian positions and populated areas, including 79 strikes using multiple launch rocket systems.
Earlier, Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) confirmed that its special forces unit “Alpha” conducted successful long-range drone strikes against five Russian military airbases in 2025, targeting and destroying 15 aircraft.
