Daily Update: Russia Loses 870 Troops, 3 Air Defense Systems in One Day

Russia suffered an estimated 870 personnel losses over the past day, Ukraine’s General Staff reported in its morning update on March 1.
In its latest tally covering the period from February 24, 2022, to March 1, 2026, the General Staff said Russia’s cumulative losses have reached approximately 1,266,770 troops.

Ukraine’s updated figures list 11,709 tanks (+2), 24,108 armored fighting vehicles (+6), and 37,721 artillery systems (+58). Over the past day, Russian forces also lost one multiple launch rocket system and three air defense systems, bringing total losses in those categories to 1,662 MLRS and 1,308 air defense systems.
The General Staff estimates that since the start of the full-scale invasion, Russia has lost 151,359 operational-tactical UAVs (+1,722) and 4,384 cruise missiles. Other totals include 348 helicopters, 29 ships or boats, two submarines, 80,510 vehicles and fuel tankers (+181), and 4,075 units of special equipment.

On the battlefield, 158 combat clashes were recorded over the past day. The highest number of Russian assaults was reported in the Huliaipole direction, where Ukrainian forces repelled 45 attacks, and in the Pokrovsk direction, where 25 attacks were recorded.
According to the General Staff, Russian forces launched two missile strikes using two missiles, conducted 80 airstrikes dropping 241 guided aerial bombs, and deployed 8,613 attack drones over the past 24 hours. In total, 3,604 shelling incidents were recorded along the front line and against populated areas, including 63 involving multiple launch rocket systems.
Ukraine’s Defense Forces reported striking eight areas of Russian troop concentration, three command posts, five artillery systems, one ammunition depot, and another unspecified military facility over the past day.
Earlier, Ukraine reported destroying relay stations used to coordinate Russian Shahed drone attacks from Belarus. According to Mykhailo Fedorov and Serhiy “Flash” Beskrestnov, the eliminated Mesh network nodes allowed drones to relay signals and stay connected to Russian operators, including during operations over Kyiv and central Ukraine.
