The Rostov region, in southern Russia, came under drone attack, with explosions reported in several cities: Novocherkassk, Shakhty, as well as the districts of Miasnikovsky, Rodionovo-Nesvetay, and Aksai.

Rostov Governor Yuri Slyusar, confirmed the incidents on the night of July 23.

According to Russian Telegram channel Astra and OSINT resources, the local railway in Novocherkassk was among the targeted sites. Additionally, the Novocherkassk DRES (electric power station) and a “Rostelecom” facility were also reportedly hit by the drone strikes, Hromadske reports.

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that, during the night, a total of 33 drones were allegedly shot down over Russian territory. However, Ukraine has yet to comment on the events.

Earlier this month, Ukrainian drones allegedly struck Russia’s Kronstadt drone plant in deep strike near Moscow and hit the Azov Optical-Mechanical Plant in Russia’s Rostov region.

The facility, which produces optical and electronic components for military use, was reportedly targeted by fixed-wing drones, causing explosions and damage.
