Elite Russian Drone Team Obliterated by Ukrainian FP-2 Strike in Occupied Avdiivka

Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) conducted a precision strike on a Russian drone command post in occupied Avdiivka, eliminating officers and UAV operators from the Russian “Rubikon” unit, according to the agency’s press service on November 4.
The operation was carried out using a domestically produced FP-2 drone equipped with a 105-kilogram explosive payload. HUR reported that reconnaissance identified the Russian unit’s headquarters inside a partially destroyed residential building in Avdiivka, Donetsk region.

“Having obtained the exact coordinates, intelligence operators directed an FP-2 drone at the enemy base in dense urban terrain,” the statement said. The strike resulted in the destruction of the Russian command site and the deaths of several key personnel.
According to HUR, “Rubikon” is among the most technically advanced formations within Russia’s occupation forces, specializing in the operation of reconnaissance and attack drones.
The unit, established in August 2024, has been rapidly expanded by Moscow and is believed to receive priority funding and advanced equipment.
Ukrainian officials noted that Russia is currently enlarging “Rubikon” from several hundred to several thousand personnel, intending to deploy it across multiple front-line sectors.
Earlier, Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces used FP-2 drones to strike a Russian fuel train near Dovzhansk and a logistics warehouse in Rozkishne, both deep inside occupied Luhansk—up to 140 kilometers behind the front line—disrupting supply routes for Russia’s “Center” group of forces.
