Ukraine Knocks Out Russian Radar Eyes in Crimea, Targeting S-400 Systems

Ukrainian special forces carried out a precision strike on several Russian air defense assets located in temporarily occupied Crimea during the night of November 1–2, according to Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence Directorate (HUR).
The operation, conducted by the Department of Active Operations within HUR, targeted command and radar components of a Russian S-400 “Triumf” air defense division.
As reported by the agency, the strike destroyed a 92N6E multi-function radar and the autonomous power supply system supporting the command post.
In addition, HUR confirmed that its units successfully hit an AORL-1AS airfield surveillance radar and a P-18 “Terek” radar used by Russian occupation forces. These assets are part of Moscow’s broader network of air defense installations designed to monitor Ukrainian drone and missile activity across the peninsula.
The S-400, produced by Russia’s Almaz-Antey corporation, is one of the country’s most advanced surface-to-air missile systems, capable of engaging aircraft and ballistic targets at ranges exceeding 200 kilometers. Its deployment in Crimea has been a key component of Russia’s layered air defense strategy since 2014.
Earlier, on September 21, Ukraine’s military intelligence confirmed a drone strike on a Russian airbase in occupied Crimea, destroying at least one Mi-8 helicopter and disabling a 55Zh6U “Nebo-U” long-range radar.
The operation, carried out by the HUR’s “Prymary” unit, was supported by satellite imagery and video footage showing the aftermath.
