EU to Reach Milestone of 60,000 Trained Ukrainian Soldiers
The European Union will "as early as tomorrow" reach the milestone of 60,000 trained Ukrainian soldiers.
This announcement was made by German Defense Secretary Thomas Hitschler ahead of the EU defense ministers' meeting.
According to Hitschler, the EU will reach the target of training 60,000 soldiers "as early as tomorrow." "This number of military personnel has been trained through the EU program, and they will return to Ukraine after completing their training. Germany will also train 10,000 Ukrainian soldiers by the end of this year," he emphasized.
Ahead of the meeting, EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell revealed that the EU has prepared approximately 700,000 artillery shells for Ukraine out of the promised one million, while industry continues to ramp up production.
Additionally, on August 26, Latvian Defense Minister Andris Sprūds discussed a new program for training Ukrainian drone operators and highlighted that Ukraine could use the provided drones on Russian territory "on legal grounds."
