On December 25, the European Union transferred the second tranche of grant aid, totaling €150 million, to Ukraine’s budget for rapid reconstruction.

This was announced by Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

The funds will be directed toward free meals for lower-grade students (€65 million), port infrastructure restoration (€50 million), agricultural support (€20 million), and critical infrastructure restoration (€15 million).

This tranche is part of the agreement between Ukraine and the EU to finance the Support for Ukraine’s Rapid Reconstruction program, with a total allocation of €300 million.

Ukraine received the first €150 million tranche in December 2023.

“Thank you to the EU countries and institutions for their crucial support in rebuilding our country, assisting businesses, and ensuring comfortable living conditions for Ukrainians,” the Prime Minister wrote.

In 2025, the European Union plans to provide over €30 billion in support to Ukraine, which will nearly cover the financial deficit of the Ukrainian budget.

Previously, Ukraine received a $1 billion tranche from Japan and the UK under the World Bank’s Development Policy Loan (DPL) program, “Foundations of Growth,” Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced on December 24.
