Ukraine Receives $1 Billion Tranche from Japan and UK to Support Reforms and Recovery
Ukraine received a $1 billion tranche from Japan and the UK under the World Bank’s Development Policy Loan (DPL) program, “Foundations of Growth,” Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced on December 24.
The Ministry of Finance reports that the funding includes $567 million guaranteed by the Japanese government through the ADVANCE Ukraine initiative, a targeted fund providing essential credit support to Ukraine. An additional $483 million comes under guarantees from the UK government.
“These funds will be directed toward enhancing economic development capacity and financing priority social and humanitarian expenditures in Ukraine’s state budget,” said Finance Minister Serhii Marchenko.
The DPL project aims to support the implementation of key reforms in Ukraine. This tranche was granted following Ukraine’s compliance with the program’s requirements.
“Ukraine remains committed to reform, even under martial law. This effort not only secures vital resources but also fosters economic growth, recovery, and further European integration,” added Deputy Finance Minister Olha Zykova.
Previously, the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has completed the sixth review of Ukraine's Extended Fund Facility program (EFF), approving a tranche of $1.1 billion, according to Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal on December 20.
