Europe is Ready to Support Ukraine Without US Help, Says Polish FM
European countries are prepared to enhance their support for Ukraine, according to Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski.
Following a key meeting in Warsaw on November 19 with foreign ministers from France, Germany, Italy, the UK, and Spain, Sikorski confirmed that Europe’s leading nations are ready to take on greater financial and military responsibilities.
“Europe’s largest nations are committed to continuing their support for Ukraine, even if the United States reduces its involvement. This includes both military and financial aid,” Sikorski stated, as reported by Polish outlet DoRzeczy.
The meeting, which also included Kaja Kallas, the incoming EU foreign policy chief, focused on strengthening Europe’s security role, sustaining support for Ukraine, and advancing the EU integration ambitions of Moldova and Georgia.
Leaders agreed that Europe must take a more prominent role in its own defense and ensure a fairer distribution of responsibilities within NATO.
These discussions follow growing concerns about the potential shift in US policy toward Ukraine, particularly in light of recent US elections.
