European Union Foreign Policy Chief Kaja Kallas has expressed support for US President Donald Trump's decision to temporarily halt military strikes against Iranian energy facilities.

Speaking during a press conference in Nigeria, Kallas described the move as very positive, according to European Pravda on March 23.

The decision comes after President Trump announced a five-day suspension of attacks on Iran’s power plants and energy infrastructure.

This followed what he described as productive negotiations with Tehran. Kallas noted that such actions help prevent further instability.

"I believe that any attacks on infrastructure cause chaos in the region and further escalate this war," Kallas stated.

The diplomatic shift follows a period of heightened tension. On March 22, the US administration threatened to bomb Iranian power stations if Tehran did not restore free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global oil exports.

In response to those initial threats, Iranian officials warned that any American strikes on their energy sector would lead to retaliatory attacks against US and regional infrastructure across the Middle East.

Previously, Iran targeted the strategic US-UK military base on Diego Garcia with a two-stage ballistic missile, marking its longest-range strike attempt to date.

The missile, which analysts linked to a modified Khorramshahr-4, demonstrated a potential reach of 4,000 kilometers, far exceeding Tehran’s previously declared limits.

This operation signaled a significant expansion of Iran’s strike capabilities, placing high-value targets across the Indian Ocean and Europe within range and forcing a reassessment of international missile defense strategies.
